Ductwork Repair & Replacement in Cape Coral, FL

I'm Derrik Speck. I own True Care Air LLC, I'm licensed under CAC1824801, I'm insured, and I run the calls myself. Cape Coral is block homes and canals, and both of those show up in the duct. Over 400 miles of canal water means salt in the air on a lot of this side of the river, and salt gets into an attic through every gap the house has.

The Cape Coral Duct Situation

Most of what I open up between Del Prado, Diplomat Parkway, Pine Island Road and out toward Burnt Store Road is a 1970s through early 2000s block home with flex duct run through the attic. Flex has a life span. The inner liner gets brittle, the outer jacket tears, tape lets go, straps cut in, and the whole run starts sagging between supports. Add salt air working on the metal collars, boots, and any bare sheet metal and you get connections that rust out at the joint while the duct body still looks fine from six feet away.

The other thing I run into constantly here is the lanai. Somebody enclosed the back lanai, wanted air out there, and tied it into the existing system with a run tapped off whatever trunk was closest. It never worked right, and it usually made the rest of the house worse. That room has more glass and more heat load than any bedroom in the house, and a 6 inch tap off an already-loaded trunk was never going to carry it.

  • Enclosed lanai that stays 8 to 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house
  • Flex duct sagging, torn, or pulled loose at the plenum
  • Rusted boots and collars, especially on homes near the canals
  • Weak air at the far end registers while the room by the air handler freezes
  • Ceiling stains or drips around a register from condensation on uninsulated duct
  • Runs that were added over the years with no thought to whether the system could carry them

How I Handle It

I do repair, full replacement, sealing, and adding or relocating runs. On a lanai tie-in, the honest answer is often that the main system cannot carry that room no matter how I duct it, and you are better off with a properly sized dedicated solution than with me robbing air from your bedrooms. I will tell you that instead of selling you a run that disappoints you. When duct does need replacing, I install R8 flex. Duct replacement in Lee County is permitted work and I pull the permit.

What I Will Not Sell You

I do not do air duct cleaning. I don't own the equipment and I don't sub it out. In Cape Coral especially, people get sold a cleaning when the actual issue is torn flex or a disconnected run, and a cleaning does nothing for either one. If your air is weak or a room is hot, cleaning will not fix it. I would rather lose the sale than take money for something that won't change your comfort.

Diagnostic Pricing

Residential diagnostic is $109, and you get a flat repair price before I start any work. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. $129 weekend daytime. $150 after 5pm or before 8am. $159 on holidays.

If what I find in the attic is really an equipment problem, I also do AC repair in Cape Coral and full system replacement and installation. Salt air is hard on condensers here, so when a system is already at end of life it is usually worth pricing both at once. You can ballpark a changeout with the replacement cost calculator, and there is 0% financing through Wells Fargo for qualified buyers, explained on the financing page. The broader Southwest Florida ductwork page covers how I work the rest of the area.
