❄️ Air Conditioning

How often should I service my AC in Southwest Florida?

We recommend servicing your air conditioner at least twice a year — once in the spring before the heavy cooling season, and once in the fall. Florida's heat and humidity put extreme demand on AC systems, so regular maintenance helps prevent breakdowns, extends equipment life, and keeps your energy bills in check.

Why is my AC running but not cooling my home?

A few common culprits: a dirty air filter restricting airflow, low refrigerant (often a sign of a leak), a frozen evaporator coil, or a failing compressor. Start by checking your filter — if it's clogged, replace it and see if cooling improves. If the problem persists, give us a call so we can diagnose it properly.

How long should an AC unit last in Florida?

Most AC units in Florida last 12–15 years — shorter than national averages because our systems run nearly year-round. Regular maintenance can extend that lifespan. If your unit is over 10 years old and needing frequent repairs, it may be more cost-effective to replace it.

Why is my AC making a strange noise?

Different sounds mean different things. A banging or clanking sound often means a loose or broken component inside the unit. Squealing can indicate a worn belt or motor bearing. Hissing may signal a refrigerant leak. If you hear anything unusual, it's best to turn the system off and call us before more damage occurs.

How do I know if my AC needs refrigerant?

Signs of low refrigerant include warm air blowing from vents, ice forming on the refrigerant lines, longer-than-normal cooling cycles, and higher energy bills. Refrigerant doesn't just "run out" — low levels mean there's a leak that needs to be located and repaired. We'll find it and fix it right.

🔧 Maintenance & Tune-Ups

What's included in an AC tune-up?

Our tune-up includes a full system inspection and typically covers: checking refrigerant levels, cleaning the condenser and evaporator coils, inspecting electrical connections, lubricating moving parts, checking the thermostat calibration, clearing the condensate drain line, and testing overall system performance. You'll know exactly what shape your system is in when we're done.

How often should I change my air filter?

In Florida, every 30–60 days is a good rule of thumb for most households. If you have pets, allergies, or a dusty environment, check it monthly. A clogged filter is the #1 cause of AC inefficiency and early breakdowns — it's the simplest thing you can do to protect your system.

Why is it important to clean the condensate drain line?

Florida's humidity means your AC removes a lot of moisture from the air. That moisture drains out through the condensate line — and in our climate, algae and mold love to grow in it. A clogged drain line can cause water to back up into your home, triggering a safety shutoff or causing water damage. We clear it at every tune-up.

Can regular maintenance really save me money?

Absolutely. A well-maintained AC runs more efficiently — studies show a dirty or neglected system can use 15–25% more energy than one that's properly maintained. Plus, catching small issues early prevents costly emergency repairs or premature replacement. Maintenance pays for itself.

🛠️ Repairs & Service Calls

Do you offer same-day or emergency service?

Yes — we understand that in Southwest Florida, a broken AC isn't just uncomfortable, it can be dangerous. We do our best to offer same-day appointments for urgent situations. Book online or call us to get on the schedule.

What happens during a service call?

Derrik — the owner — shows up to your home personally. He'll diagnose the issue, walk you through what he found, explain your options clearly, and get the repair done right. No mystery charges, no pressure, no subcontractors. Just honest work from the guy whose name is on the truck.

Should I repair or replace my AC unit?

A helpful rule of thumb: if the repair cost exceeds 50% of the cost of a new unit, or if the system is over 10 years old and breaking down regularly, replacement is usually the smarter investment. We'll give you an honest recommendation — not just whatever makes us more money that day.

Do you work on all AC brands?

Yes — we service and repair all major brands including Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Rheem, York, Goodman, American Standard, and more. Whatever system you have, we can work on it.

🏠 New Installations & Replacements

What size AC unit do I need for my home?

Sizing depends on your home's square footage, insulation, ceiling height, window placement, and sun exposure — not just a simple square footage formula. An oversized unit cools too fast without removing humidity, leaving your home clammy. An undersized unit runs constantly. We do a proper load calculation to get it right.

How long does an AC installation take?

A standard replacement of an existing system typically takes 4–8 hours. New construction or more complex installations may take longer. We'll give you a clear time estimate before we start so you can plan your day.

What SEER rating should I look for in a new unit?

SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) measures how efficiently a unit cools. In Florida, a minimum of SEER 15–16 is required by federal standards, but we recommend considering SEER 18–20+ for maximum energy savings given how much we run our systems here. Higher SEER units cost more upfront but can pay back significantly in lower electric bills.
