Ductwork Repair & Replacement in Fort Myers, FL

I'm Derrik Speck, owner of True Care Air LLC, license CAC1824801, insured, and I'm the one who shows up at your house. Fort Myers isn't one kind of house, so duct problems here aren't one kind of problem. A 1950s home off McGregor Boulevard and a 2019 build out in Gateway can both have bad duct, but for completely different reasons, and they don't get fixed the same way.

What Is Actually Wrong With Duct in Fort Myers Homes

On the McGregor corridor and the older streets around Page Field, I still find original duct. Metal trunk lines with liner shedding, insulation that has gone flat and gray, joints that let go decades ago and nobody ever climbed up to look. Those systems are dumping conditioned air into an attic and the homeowner pays for it every single month.

Out in Gateway, along the Daniels Corridor, and through a lot of South Fort Myers construction from the last twenty years, age is not the problem. Install quality is. Flex run long and lazy, kinked over a truss, strapped tight enough to choke it down to half its diameter, boots never sealed to the drywall, returns undersized for the tonnage sitting outside. The house is new and the duct is still wrong.

  • Rooms at the end of a run that never catch up, especially west-facing bedrooms
  • Registers you can barely feel air moving out of
  • Attic-warm air at the vent because the duct lost its insulation value
  • A return that howls or an air handler closet that sweats
  • A power bill that climbed while nothing else about the house changed
  • Crushed, sagging, or flat disconnected flex you can see from the attic hatch

What I Do

Repair, replacement, sealing, and adding or relocating runs. If a couple of joints came apart and the rest of the system is sound, I fix the joints. I am not going to sell you a house worth of duct you don't need. When the duct is genuinely finished, I replace it with R8 flex, which is what a Fort Myers attic calls for. Duct replacement in Lee County is permitted work and I pull the permit. Anybody telling you it isn't permitted is telling you they don't plan to pull one.

What I Do Not Do

I do not clean air ducts. I don't own the equipment for it and I'm not going to sub it out and mark it up. If someone told you a cleaning will fix weak airflow or a hot back bedroom, it won't. Those are almost always leaks, undersized returns, restriction, or an equipment problem. Cleaning a leaking duct leaves you with a clean leaking duct. I would rather tell you that before you spend the money than after.

What It Costs to Find Out

A residential diagnostic is $109, and you get a flat repair price before I start any work. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Weekend daytime is $129. Before 8am or after 5pm is $150. Holidays are $159. I get in the attic, put hands on the actual duct, and tell you plainly what I found.

When a duct problem turns out to be tied to failing equipment, I also handle AC repair here in Fort Myers and full system installation, and it is usually smarter to do duct and equipment together than a year apart. If a changeout is on the table, the replacement cost calculator will get you a rough number before you ever call me, and for bigger jobs there is 0% financing through Wells Fargo for qualified buyers, which I explain on the financing page. How I approach duct across the rest of the region is on the Southwest Florida ductwork page.
