Ductwork Repair & Replacement in Lehigh Acres, FL
I'm Derrik Speck, owner of True Care Air LLC, license CAC1824801, insured, owner-operated. Lehigh Acres is growing faster than anywhere else I work, and that shows up in the duct two different ways. Half my calls off Lee Boulevard and Sunshine Boulevard are 1970s and 80s block homes with duct that has been up there a very long time. The other half are houses built in the last few years where the duct is new and still doesn't move air the way it should.
Long Runs and Big Lots
The lots out here are big, and the houses spread out to match. That means long duct runs, and long runs are unforgiving. Every foot of flex costs you static pressure, every unnecessary bend costs you more, and by the time air gets to the far bedroom there isn't much left. On a compact house a sloppy run is a nuisance. On a Lehigh house with a 35 foot run to the back corner, the same sloppiness means that room simply never cools. I see undersized returns making it worse, because the system can't deliver what it can't pull in.
Rodents in the Attic
I will say this plainly because it is more common here than anywhere else I work: rodent damage. Big lots, open land nearby, and older soffits mean animals get into attics, and duct is soft. I find chewed-through flex, liner torn open, insulation pulled apart for nesting, and runs that got dragged off a collar entirely. If that is what is going on, patching one hole is a waste of your money. The animals have to be out and the entry sealed first, or I will be back next season fixing the same duct. I do not do wildlife exclusion, and I will tell you to get that handled before I quote a replacement.
- Back bedrooms that never keep up, especially at the end of a long run
- Chewed or torn flex, shredded insulation, nesting material in the attic
- Duct disconnected at the plenum or pulled off a boot
- Returns too small for the tonnage, so the whole system is fighting itself
- Original duct from the 70s or 80s that has simply reached the end
- New construction where the flex was run long, kinked, or crushed against a truss
What I Do and What I Don't
I repair duct, replace duct, seal it, and add or relocate runs when a room needs its own supply or a return has to move. When I replace, I use R8 flex, and I run it as straight and as supported as the attic allows, because on these long runs the routing matters as much as the material. Duct replacement in Lee County is permitted work and I pull the permit.
What I don't do is clean air ducts. I don't own the equipment, I don't sub it out, and I won't pretend a cleaning solves an airflow problem. If a rodent got into your duct, cleaning it does not repair a chewed run. If your back room is hot, cleaning does not shorten the run or enlarge the return. Nobody should be selling you that.
Coming Out
Residential diagnostic is $109, and you get a flat repair price before I start any work. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. $129 weekend daytime, $150 after 5pm or before 8am. $159 on holidays.
When an aging system is part of the picture, I also handle AC repair in Lehigh Acres and new system installation, and on a house with long runs the duct and the equipment really do need to be sized together. Run the numbers yourself first with the replacement cost calculator, and if the job is bigger than the budget, there is 0% financing through Wells Fargo for qualified buyers on the financing page. My general approach is laid out on the Southwest Florida ductwork page.
