Indoor Air Quality & UV Purification in Lehigh Acres, FL

What a UV lamp actually does
The lamp mounts in the air handler and runs on the evaporator coil and the drain pan. Those surfaces are wet every single time the system cools, and permanently wet surfaces are where biological growth establishes. The lamp keeps that growth from setting up on the coil and in the pan. That matters because a coil with growth on it moves less air, drains worse and smells. That is the honest description of the job. It is not a health product. I do not claim it kills a percentage of anything and I do not claim it fixes allergies.
A lamp does not clean a dirty coil
Said plainly: a UV lamp is not a substitute for cleaning a coil that is already dirty, and it will not fix a clogged drain line. In Lehigh Acres I pull a lot of coils that are packed with dust and pet hair, and no lamp is going to undo that. If the system needs a real cleaning, I do that first. Installing a lamp over a filthy coil is selling somebody a light bulb. Lamps are also consumable and need replacing on an interval, and I tell you that interval the day it goes in. Regular maintenance in Lehigh Acres is what keeps a coil from getting to that point, and anything already restricted or draining badly is a repair call.
Half of these calls are really humidity
An oversized air conditioner cools the house fast, satisfies the thermostat and shuts off before it has removed much moisture. You are left at 60 percent indoor humidity, clammy and stale smelling, with an air conditioner that is technically working perfectly. That is a sizing and equipment problem, not a filter problem, and the real fix is a variable speed system that runs longer at lower capacity so it actually dehumidifies. - A lot of newer tight construction, where the same air recirculates continuously and never really gets diluted.
- Tight houses plus a dusty environment is the combination that dirties a coil fastest, so filter discipline matters more here than most places.
- Long flex runs in hot attics that were never sealed properly, which is a ductwork fix, not an air purifier fix.
