Indoor Air Quality & UV Purification in Naples, FL
I am Derrik Speck, owner of True Care Air LLC. One truck, one license, and I am the person who diagnoses the problem and the person who fixes it. Naples covers a lot of ground, from coastal condos near Vanderbilt Beach to acreage out east, and the air quality problems are not the same in both. Call (239) 810-2500 or book online and I will look at yours specifically.
What a UV lamp actually does
The lamp mounts inside the air handler and runs on the evaporator coil and the drain pan. Those surfaces are wet every time the system cools, and permanently wet surfaces are where biological growth establishes. The lamp keeps that from setting up on the coil and in the pan, which keeps the equipment doing its job, because a coil with growth on it moves less air, drains worse and smells. That is the accurate description. I do not claim a UV lamp kills a percentage of viruses, and I do not claim it fixes allergies. Anyone selling it that way in a high end Naples home is counting on you not asking.
What it will not do
Plainly: a UV lamp is not a substitute for cleaning a coil that is already dirty, and it will not fix a clogged drain line. If the system needs a real cleaning, I do that first. Installing a lamp over a filthy coil is selling somebody a light bulb, and the smell comes right back. Lamps are consumable, they need replacing on an interval, and I tell you that interval up front rather than letting a dead lamp sit in the cabinet for four years. Cleaning and inspection belong to Naples maintenance; a fouled coil or backed up drain is a repair call first.
Naples is several different problems
- North Naples and Vanderbilt Beach: coastal salt exposure that is hard on coils and cabinet metal, plus high value seasonal homes shut for the summer.
- Seasonal closures across Collier County: a house closed from May to October with the thermostat set high is exactly the condition that grows biological film in an air handler, because the coil and pan stay damp with almost no runtime.
- East Naples: a mix of ages, and older systems where the drain pan has been wet for a decade.
- Golden Gate Estates: more rural, well water, more outdoor dust and more open land, which loads filters and coils faster than anywhere closer to the coast.
- Big houses with long duct runs, where leakage and pressure problems get blamed on air quality when they are actually a duct issue.
Often it is humidity, not air quality
An oversized air conditioner cools the house fast, satisfies the thermostat and shuts off before it removes much moisture. That leaves the house near 60 percent indoor humidity, clammy and musty, with an air conditioner that tests out perfectly fine. That is a sizing and equipment problem, not a filter problem, and it happens constantly in large Naples homes where somebody put in more tonnage than the house needed. The real fix is a variable speed system that runs longer at lower capacity and pulls water out of the air. Use the replacement cost calculator to see the range before anyone sits down with you.
Pricing and who I am
UV Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 systems are $859 each installed. Dual UV systems are $1,200 and up. I also install REME HALO whole home air purification. I am licensed CAC1824801, insured and owner operated, and there is 0% financing through Wells Fargo for qualified buyers on larger work. The Southwest Florida indoor air quality overview explains the whole approach, and if the house sits empty part of the year, a tune up schedule built around when you leave and when you come back is the most useful thing you can buy from me.
