Mini Split & Ductless AC in Fort Myers, FL

I'm Derrik Speck. True Care Air LLC is my company, license CAC1824801, insured, and I'm the one who shows up and does the work. Most of my ductless calls in Fort Myers come down to one room the central system was never asked to cool. A converted garage off McGregor Boulevard. A bonus room over the garage in a Gateway build. An office added onto a house near Page Field. A mini split conditions that one space on its own thermostat without tearing into ductwork that is already doing its job everywhere else. If you want the general rundown on how these systems work, I keep it on my ductless and mini split page for Southwest Florida.

The Fort Myers spaces I get called about

  • Converted garages in the older McGregor-area homes, where an uninsulated block wall and a slab floor keep the room ten degrees off the rest of the house.
  • Bonus rooms over the garage in newer Gateway builds, where the supply run is long, the duct is undersized, and that room is the last place the air ever gets to.
  • Back additions and home offices along the Daniels Corridor that went up years after the original system was sized.
  • Detached garages and workshops around Page Field and South Fort Myers.
  • One bedroom where somebody wants it at 70 and the rest of the house does not.

Why inverter equipment matters in this climate

A mini split is inverter driven. The compressor modulates instead of slamming on and off, so it runs long stretches at low capacity. That long low run is what actually pulls moisture out of the air here. A unit that blasts cold for six minutes and shuts off drops the temperature and leaves the humidity behind, which is how a room ends up cold and clammy.

That is also why sizing matters more than most people expect. An oversized head in a small converted garage short cycles, never dehumidifies, and feels worse than the room did before. I measure the space, look at the insulation, the ceiling, the glass and the sun exposure, and I size to that. Bigger is not better with this equipment.

Equipment I install

I'm an authorized American Standard dealer, and that is what I put in when somebody wants the better build and the better warranty. I also carry a second line running 17 SEER2 R-32 mini splits for jobs where the budget matters more than the top end, like a garage or a workshop that only gets used part of the day. Both are solid. I'll tell you what the difference actually buys you.

When a mini split is the wrong answer

If the whole house is uncomfortable, a mini split is not the fix. That is a sizing problem, a duct problem or an equipment problem, and hanging a head on the wall of one room does nothing about it. Around here it is usually crushed or disconnected duct in the attic, which I handle on my duct repair and replacement side, or a system at the end of its life that needs to be replaced with a properly sized new AC installation in Fort Myers. I would rather say that on the first visit than sell you the easier job and leave you with the same house.

Ductless repair, including systems I didn't install

I repair ductless equipment no matter who put it in. The residential diagnostic is $109, and you get a flat repair price before I start any work. If you also have central equipment down, that runs through my AC repair and HVAC service in Fort Myers. The failures I see over and over:

  • Condensate pumps that quit and back the water up into the head
  • Outdoor control boards
  • Refrigerant leaks at the flare connections, usually from a rushed install
  • Blower wheels caked with dust, which happens fast in a garage or workshop

Estimates, financing and scheduling

Estimates on new installs are free. If you would rather spread the cost out, I have 0% financing through Wells Fargo for qualified buyers, and the details are on my HVAC financing page. Call me at (239) 810-2500 or book online and I'll come look at the room.
